I have recently been working with many clients who are interested in having me communicate with their clients via email or text. As I have been trying to follow these rules, it has become clear to me that people need voice-to-voice interaction on a daily basis.
My biggest pet peeve of late is when I’ve been told to communicate my results to someone and need further action from them, but they don’t comply. Why is it that people today don’t feel they need to communicate back – be it by text, email or phone? Sometimes there are issues that actually require a human voice and perspective. And of course sometimes tone and attitude come across very crass when responding via email or text.
So what ever happened to having a nice conversation? People today are so busy in their electronic/technological world, they often don’t consider actually “speaking” to someone. Mistakes are frequently made in typing, and the personalization and feeling that we/they are just as important as the next person, gets lost.
And while we’re at it, wouldn’t it be nice to go back to Sundays off where we could just spend time having coffee and a conversation without checking email or text?
